By Felix EngsaligeNyaaba
The Okaikoi South Parliamentary aspirant on the ticket of the  National Democratic Congress (NDC) , Mr. Alexander Ackuaku  has in collaboration with the constituency  youth leaders  have  organized unity football   League  to unearth the sporting  talents  in  the youth in the area.
Speaking at the second football matches between Avenue United Football club and Kantsean FC, all in the Okaikoi Electoral Areas, Mr. Ackuaku   said his decision to organize the games among the eight electoral areas was influenced by   determination of the Youth to unlock their talents and venture in football which has been the hallmark of the areas for the past years.
The aspiration MP said he was worried that there is not a single football team in the Division One League from the constituency or a footballer in the national team, the Black Stars as compare to some years ago.
Mr. Ackuaku therefore appealed to officers in charge of the various community football clubs in the constituency to do a diligent work to enable them to form formidable teams that can stand the test of time.
“Where one comes from, must not be an impediment to his or her development in sport, we have what it takes to play for teams like Hearts or Kotoko, but it was just the lack of motivation and the political will to push these young ones to where they can perform for their areas and the country,” the Parliamentary candidate said.
Mr. Ackuaku said, the Constituency for the past years had produced high profile footballers and coaches such Coach Jones Attuquayefio and appealed to the coaches for the clubs to join hands to raise a formidable team for the constituency.
He said the event, which was also meant to foster unity among the people of the constituency will also help keep the youth busy to prevent them from indulging in anti-social activities.
At the game between the Avenor United and Kantsean FC at the Avenor sport park,  Avenor beat Kantsean FC 2-0 , while on the Independent day match between  Kaneshie FC  and  Adaman United  recorded 2-1.
However, in an interview with The Enquirer, Mr. Carlos Abeku,  the manager of Avenor United  football club said, he would use the unity games to reorganized the team  to be able to play  for division one at the national premier level.
According to him, there are talented players in the area but due to financial problems some of them do not appear for training to uplift the club to the national level.
He said, with the assistance of the aspiring MP, some of the players have started appearing for training and believe  with time goes all the clubs in the constituency would form  a formidable team to join the division one at the national level.
