ASSAULT CHARGE,MZBEL TO KNOW FATE TODAY

The Accra Motor Court would today deliver its ruling on the motor offence case, involving the Ghanaian showbiz musician, Nana Ekua Amoah, a.k.a Mzbel and two others persons who allegedly assaulted and obstructed a police officer from executing his duty last year.
The trial judge, Ms. Alberta Amponsah, ruling today would indicate the fate of the showbiz musician and her accomplice as to whether they were guilty of the crime or not.
However, if found guilty, Nana Akua Amoah, a.k.a Mzbel would go into jail not less than five years per the criminal  offence Act 29 and the Motor and Traffic regulation  law.
Mzbel and the other two ,  Maxwell Mensah, a driver, and Emmanuel Edem Nordzor, a student were  all arrested  sometime last year and charged with various crimes  contrary to Act 29 of the criminal code Act 1960 and the Motor Traffic regulation  34 of the Legislative Instrument(L.I 952)  of  1974.
The sensational artiste is being held for assaulting a police officer and obstructing him from executing his lawful duty.

Mensah, the driver, was charged with four counts of unauthorized parking, causing road obstruction, resisting lawful arrest and assaulting a police officer, while Nordzor, a student also faces two counts of driving without a license and obstructing a police officer

They all pleaded not guilty to the charges and were admitted to bail by the Accra Human Rights Court in the Sum of GHC2, 000.00 with a surety each after the Motor court had denied them bail on their first appearance in court.
The prosecution’s  case was that at about 12. 30 hours on June 4, 2011, the three accused persons were driving in a Mitsubishi 4x4 vehicle with registration number GR 9470-11 on the Kinbu Road.
According to the police prosecutor, Chief Inspector Dora Seiwaa,   Mensah parked the vehicle on the shoulder of the road at Tudu while Nordzor and Mzbel sat in the vehicle.
She said Mensah's act impeded the flow of traffic and the Policeman on duty traced the source of the blockade to the vehicle being driven by Mensah.
The police officer found Nordzor sitting behind the steering wheel with the engine running and the policeman asked him to repark the vehicle to enable free traffic flow.
The prosecutor explained that, while the police officer was talking to Nordzor, Mzbel appeared from nowhere, held the police neck and asked what his mission around her car was.
That, as the police officer was trying to explain to her understanding, she order her driver Mensah to drive away and Mensah complied.
Inspector Seiwaa said, the policeman was nearly killed as he lies on the bonnet of the car while the car was in motion.
She said it took members of the public intervention to save the life of the police officer, while the accused persons were arrested and charged for the offence.
