The
37 year old woman and her two daughters who were set ablaze by a jealous man
who is yet to be arrested were last Friday finally laid to rest at the Osu
Cemetery after a
sorrowful burial ceremony in Accra.
The
premise of the Max Doodo Presybetairan Church at Laterbiokorshise, in Accra, where
their funeral was held, were packed.
Mourners,
including students, teachers, Church members, members of the Ghana Tailors and
Dressmakers Association (GTDA), family members and the general public converged
at the Church to mourn Madam Rosemond Akwele Allotey and her two daughters,
Charlotte and Nuela Quatey Papafio who met their untimely death after an unknown
person set their room ablaze while they were asleep on March 2, this year.
Personnel
from the National Fire Services were also present to mourn with the family of
Madam Rosemond and her two daughters.
Ms
Ursula Owusu and Mr. Ebenezer Nartey, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidates for
Ablekuman South and Central respectively joined the deceased family to mourn
with them.
At
the burial services in the Church, a sermon by the head pastor, Rev. E.B
Djieagu brought tears to the eyes of mourners.
Rev.
Djieagu in his sermon urged all Christian to pray at all time in other to drive
out the evil doers in the society.
According
to him, even though God has super powers over every creature, some creature
allows their body and mind which is the temple of God to do evil things in the
world.
He
said, just like the people of Sodom and Gomorrah in the Bible, God would one day
find a way of punishing people who never want to repent and do what would
please God, the maker of the universe but always do what pleases Satan.
Rev, Djieagu however, called on all Christians in
the country to pray for nation till the
judgment day where everyone would account for his her stewardship.
He
urged all not to be depressed by Rosemond and the two daughters
death but rather take solace in
the fact that “God knows best, and that he is doing a new thing”, saying even though the husband, family members
and the nation loves them, God loves them best and urged the faithful to
continue to pray for their souls.
He
advised all to follow the ways of God in order to gain eternal life.
Tributes
were read by the family, siblings, husband, school mates, Twin Sister of
Rosemond, Max Doodo Presybetarian Churc, Young Adult Fellowship of the
Church(YAF), the Ghana Tailors and Dressmakers Association and Friends.
The
husband, Lewis Quartey Papafio, described Rosemond as a wife who was always
ready to counsel him whenever he does wrong and also an understanding wife.
He
described the children as great, great, daughters who he cannot fine anything
to replace their love for him.
The
president of the Ghana Tailors and Dressmakers Association(GTDA) , Kaneshie
market branch, Madam Angelina Araba Ghansah,
described the late Madam Rosemond Allotey as a woman with love and friendly who never have time to
pick quarreled with any anyone at her work
side.
She
said, though she is gone to the Creator, the Association would forever remember
her for the respectful character and the meaningful contribution she made to
the up growth of members and of the Association which she was a member.
The
late Madam Rosemond Akwele Allotey was 37 years, the first daughter, Charlotte
was 12 and Emmanuella (Nuella) was seven years.
Until
her untimely death, Rosemond Akwele, who was popularly called AK by friends and
family members was a professional Dressmaker at the Kaneshie market.
Rosemond and her two daughters were on March2, set ablaze by a man
believed to have been jilted by his girl-friend in favor of her younger
brother.
The suspect is said to have poured
petrol on the three, who were asleep in their single-room at Mamprobi Soko in
Accra.
They suffered serious burns and were
rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital where they died on Saturday March3.
